Social Media Image Prep

Prepare an image for its destination in one place. Choose a platform and placement, frame your image, optimize the export and download it — without uploading your image to a server.

Prepare your image

Work through the steps below. Your source image stays in this browser.

1

Choose the destination

Select where the image will be used to load a recommended canvas size.

A portrait frame is useful for a tall feed post. Keep important text and faces away from the very edges.

JPEG and WebP are lossy formats. PNG exports ignore the quality setting. Check the downloaded file before publishing.

Privacy note: your selected image is processed locally with browser canvas features. It is not sent to Cliperfly. Very large images may use significant memory on older devices.

How to prepare a social media image

  1. Choose the platform and exact placement, such as an Instagram portrait feed post or a YouTube thumbnail.
  2. Select an image from your device. The preview uses the target aspect ratio and pixel dimensions.
  3. Adjust zoom and horizontal or vertical position until the composition looks right.
  4. Choose an output format and quality, then download the result and review it before posting.

Why crop to the placement first?

Different placements use different shapes. If you upload artwork with a mismatched aspect ratio, a platform may crop the edges or display it differently across surfaces. Preparing a dedicated version helps you control which parts of the image remain visible. The dimensions here are practical export presets, not a guarantee that every platform interface will display an image identically.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded to Cliperfly?

No. The browser reads the selected file and creates the export locally. The image data is not sent to our server by this tool.

Will compression always make the file smaller?

No. Some images are already optimized, and PNG can be larger than JPEG or WebP for photographs. Compare the estimated output and original size, and try another format or quality setting if needed.

Does this guarantee the platform's current specifications?

The presets are common recommended canvas sizes and may change as platforms update their products. Check the platform's current guidance for critical campaigns or paid placements.

Can I reposition the image after choosing a size?

Yes. Use zoom and position controls to choose which part of the source image fills the target frame. “Fit whole image” shows the complete image with space where its shape differs from the target frame.
